In our Downstairs Changing Gallery, we strive to present informative, innovative, and always interesting exhibitions for our visitors. In past exhibitions, we have explored the histories of particular Peanuts characters, Charles Schulz's own cartooning influences, and how Peanuts has been portrayed in American popular culture.

When Snoopy puts on a magic show, most of his tricks are failures—except for one...he makes Charlie Brown invisible! While Snoopy tries to make him visible again, Charlie Brown realizes this may be his golden opportunity to kick Lucy's football.

Linus' cousin Dolly lives in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, where Orville and Wilbur Wright prepare for their historic first flight—with a little help from the Peanuts Gang: Peppermint Patty and Marcie are mechanics for the Wright brothers’ aircraft; Snoopy becomes top dog and oversees the events leading to the flight; and Woodstock demonstrates the principles of flying (part of the This is America, Charlie Brown series).

Charlie Brown is assigned to read War and Peace over the Christmas holidays, but keeps getting distracted—first by dance lessons, then by Peppermint Patty's New Year's party. Things get worse for him when he finds out that the guest list includes the Little Red-Haired Girl. Feeling guilty about his upcoming book report, Charlie Brown leaves the party and sits on the front porch to read his book, but soons falls asleep. Can Charlie Brown ever finish his book report in time for the first day back to school?

Charles Schulz talks about Peanuts and introduces animations based on newspaper strips. Some of the short skits include: Peppermint Patty accidentally enrolls in dog-training classes; Charlie Brown gets sick, goes to the hospital, and Lucy promises not to pull away the football if he gets better; while on a field trip, Linus and his new paramour "Truffles" are trapped on top of a barn and must be rescued by helicopter (a.k.a. Snoopy); and more!

12:30 ● Beethoven Lives Upstairs
This highly-acclaimed production features a lively exchange of letters between young Christoph and his uncle. Their subject is the "madman" who has moved into the upstairs apartment of their Vienna home. Through a touching correspondence and beautifully performed excerpts, Christoph comes to understand the genius of Beethoven, the beauty of his music and the torment of his deafness. By the end of the recording young listeners have been touched by history, drama, music, and fun. Based on the award-winning recording, the Beethoven Lives Upstairs Symphony Concert is an imaginative way to introduce young audiences and their families to the life and music of Ludwig van Beethoven.
